Abstract
The high cost of commercial feeds prompted poultry raisers to look for alternative source of feed ingredients such as corn grits and ipil-ipil leaf meal. The study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with different ratio of corn grits and ipil-ipil leaf meal as feed extender. This was conducted in Bungol, Balaoan, La Union from November 26, 2016 to December 30, 2016. A total of ninety day old chicks were used in the study. The birds were distributed into six treatments following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in three blocks.
The results of the study showed that the performance of birds fed with 7.5% corn grits + 2.5% ipil-ipil leaf meal, 5% corn grits + 5% ipil-ipil leaf meal, and 2.5% corn grits + 7.5% ipil-ipil leaf meal were comparable to those fed with broiler starter crumble in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, and profit above feed medicine and stock cost.
