dc.description.abstractThe study was conducted to determine the best spacing that could give the favorable growth and yield; highest net income and highest Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) of pechay as intercropp with jackfruit. This study also aimed to determine the growth performance of jackfruit for the whole duration of the study at the newly established jackfruit plantation of the Agroforestry Nursery, Institute of Agroforestry and Watershed Management, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from November 30, 2015 to December 31, 2015. The study was laid out following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four blocks replicated three times. The spacing of pechay that served as treatments are: T1 = 10cm x 40cm which has 76 seedlings, T2 = 20cm x 40cm with 36 seedlings, and T3 = 30cm x 40cm with 24 seedlings. Results of the study revealed that a spacing of 10cm x 40cm used in planting pechay produced the tallest, the heaviest yield, highest net income and BCR. The shortest, lightest yield, lowest net income and BCR were produced by pechay planted with a spacing of 30cm x 40cm. The jackfruit had a height growth of 0.03 m, increased stem diameter of 0.16 cm and crown diameter of 0.2 m.
