The accomplishment of SDG 5: Gender Equality is largely dependent on the global objective of achieving gender equality, which includes putting an end to all forms of discrimination against women and girls and guaranteeing their safety. This study, Women's Local Political Participation in the 2nd District of La Union focused on the respondents’ profile, their reasons in running for office, barriers they face, and their significant contributions. The data gathered were analyzed using frequency and percentages, as well as documentary analysis. Findings reveals that the respondents are over 50, married, with college degrees or higher education. They typically serve as Sangguniang Bayan Members, affiliated with LAKAS-CMD, and have prior experience as barangay officials. Motivations include promoting democratic values and engaging with the public, while barriers include gender bias and discrimination. Most of their major contributions is on Gender and Development through policy legislation and implementation.
