dc.description.abstractTraditional healing power of tamarind seeds drive the present study. Wound healing efficiency of the different concentration of tamarind seed was evaluated. This study was conducted to test the tamarind seeds antimicrobial and antiinflammatory properties as an ointment compared to a commercial ointment. Cutaneous incision were made at the cervical region of the native chicken and was sutured with 4-0 silk and was applied topically with the different ointments twice daily. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used in the evaluation of the cutaneous incision of thirty native chickens in five treatments with three replications following Randomized Complete Block Design. Analysis of variance and Tukey's Honest Significant Difference Test were used to analyze data. Suppuration and dehiscence did not occur in any of the experimental animals. Inflammation subsided in the third day and the wounds healed at seventh day. Treatment 3 is the most effective concentration among Treatment 1 and Treatment 2.
