This study was conducted to; (1) determine the socio-demographic of native pig raisers in the first District of La Union, (2) determine the management practices of breeding native pigs in terms of feeding, breeding, housing and health management. The socio-demographic profile of the respondents revealed that majority were female, married with a mean age of 47.02 years old. In terms of educational attainment, majority of them were high school graduate with a monthly income of below Php. 1000. Fifty-six percent of the respondents had 4-6 family members and were raising native pigs for a period of 7 years. The management practices of breeding pigs in the first District of La Union showed that most of the respondents raise one sow and practice natural mating. All of the respondents assist their sows during farrowing and weaned their piglets at age of 1-2 months. They fed their pigs with a combination of commercial feeds and home-mixed feeds twice a day. As to health care and management, most of the respondents vaccinate, deworm and provide supplements to their native pigs. Medication and deworming were administered by the owner respondents while livestock technician administer vaccination.
