Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the spatial distribution, phenological and germination characteristics of fire trees found at DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union.
A Global Positioning System (GPS) device was used to gather the coordinates of the fire trees. Phenological characteristics of the fire trees such as flowering, fruiting and pod maturity was observed in the study. A field scope was used to gather the phenological characteristics. The seeds of the fire trees were subjected to germination test to determine their germination characteristics.
There were eleven fire trees found at 1 km radius from the BPAA Building of DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union. For the phenological characteristics of fire tree, the flowering period was observed to be six weeks, fruiting period was six weeks and the pod maturity was ten weeks.
Result revealed no significant difference on the number of days from sowing to first germination, germination percent, germination energy, germination value and percent survival.
