This study was conducted to find out the biophysical and bioclimatic characteristics of mangrove sites in the province of La Union using Geographic Information System. Biophysical and bioclimatic characteristics of the actual mangrove sites were conducted through overlay analysis of the samples with the different data layers. Overlaying analyses of ArcGIS was used to extract the biophysical and bioclimatic values at each sampling location. Mangrove species were identified based on the taxonomic keys which includes posters and books. A main transect line along the area was established. In every 10 meters distances in the main transect line, collection and identification of species was done. In quantifying the salinity of the mangrove habitats, salinometer was used. There were thirteen verified areas located at the different municipalities of La Union. For biophysical characteristics the mangrove sites in La Union are located in elevations up to 14 meters above Mean Sea Level and slopes ranging from 0 to 18%. Mangrove commonly grows in Annam clay loam type of soil. Proximity to land cover, mangrove sites are far from cropland while mangrove sites were found to be near to built-up areas, fishponds and very near to other bodies of water. For bioclimatic characteristics, mangrove receives up to 500 mm of rain in a yearly basis and annual temperature of 25 to 30°C. Water salinity ranges from 0 to 19.3 ppt.
