This study was conducted to: 1) identify the gastrointestinal parasites of goats in Western Pangasinan during the rainy season; 2) determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites of goats in selected areas of Western Pangasinan during the rainy season; 3) identify the larvae of Strongyle-type species of nematodes in Western Pangasinan during the rainy season; 4) determine the degree of infection of goats with gastrointestinal parasites in coastal, hilly and lowland areas of Western Pangasinan during the rainy season. A total of 200 goats regardless of sex and age were used in the study. Twelve municipalities were purposively selected as areas for the study based on ratio and proportion according to their topographical location of which Alaminos, Bolinao, Labrador and Sual were the towns representing coastal area; Aguilar, Bugallon, Burgos and Mabini represents lowland area, and Agno, Anda, Dasol and Infanta represents the hilly area. Gastrointestinal parasites were identified and determined using Modified Stoll’s, Modified McMaster and Larval Culture Methods at the IVM Parasitology Laboratory, DMMMSU, Bacnotan, La Union. The data gathered were tabulated and statistically analyzed using means and percentages. There were eight species of GI parasites of goats identified in Western Pangasinan during the rainy season. These were Fasciola spp., Amphistome spp., Monieza spp., Trichuris spp., Strongyloides spp., and Strongyle-type species identified as Haemonchus spp., Trichostrongylus spp., and Oesophagostomum spp.. Majority of the goats in Western Pangasinan are infected with gastrointestinal parasites during the rainy season. All goats in Western Pangasinan had a light degree of gastrointestinal parasites during the rainy season.
