The problem on feed cost has prompted poultry raisers to look for alternative sources of feeds such a herbal powders. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate the performance of broilers fed with 5% herbal powders: ginger and yellow ginger and its combination as feed extender. This study was conducted to determine the performance of broiler fed with pure broiler starter mash against those birds fed with rations containing herbal powders as feed extender. This was conducted at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus from November 27, 2015 to January 01, 2016. A total of 60 heads, 14 day old broiler chicks were distributed randomly in four treatments following the RCBD in three blocks. Results revealed that the final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost of birds fed with herbal powders as feed extender performed comparably to the birds fed with the control ration (pure broiler starter mash). Birds fed with a ration containing 5% ginger, 2.5% ginger + 2.5% yellow ginger and the control ration were comparable but less efficient in converting feeds into weight gain than those fed with 5% yellow ginger diet.
