dc.description.abstractThe existing farming system uses synthetic chemicals and pesticides which destroys the ecosystem and biodiversity. Therefore, there is an urgent need to explore alternatives of synthetic chemicals currently in used in agriculture. Hence, this study on seaweed (sargassum sp.) liquid fertilizer with vermicast tea on the growth and yield of yellow corn (Bt rr) intercropped with common red beans was conducted from October 2, 2013 to February 18, 2014 at the Citrus Project of DMMMSU-NLUC, Bacnotan, La Union. Results revealed that the reduction of BSR to 1 4⁄ of the recommended rate but with the addition of 3 liters VCT + 3 liters of SLF significantly out yielded the other corn plants subjected to other treatments except those applied with 1/4 BSR + 3 liters VCT + 3 liters of SLF per linear meter which were found comparable. Further, chemical fertilizer can be substituted with pure VCT plus SLF.
