Abstract
This study was conducted to determine how legumbre solutions affect the growth
and yield of okra plants. Growth was measured in terms of height of plants and yield was expressed in terms of weight and number of fruits harvested.
The Randomized Completely Blocked Design had eight treatments consisting of T1-
control, T2 - ipil-ipil legumbre solution, T3 - kamatsile legumbre solution, T4 - narra
legumbre solution, T5 - sampalok legurnbre solution, T6 - katuray legumbre solution, T7 - sitaw legumbre solution, T8 - madre cacao legumbre solution. Each treatment had 4
replication.
A total land area of 90 square meters was used as the experimental site. The study
was conducted at Magsaysay, Tubao, La Union from November 5, 1998 to January 15, 1999.
The Analysis of Variance set at 0.05 and 0.01 levels of significance was used to
determine if there were significant variations among the treatments. For significant results in the ANOVA, the Duncan Multiple Range Test ( DMRT ) was applied to find out which at the 8 treatments were significantly different from each other.
Based on final height, Treatment 2,3 and 6 have significantly better effects on height
as compared to other treatments. However, treatment 2 ( ipil-ipil legumbre solution) is considered the best fertilizer among them.
As to the number of fruits, treatment 6 and 2 obtained higher yields and resulted to
significant differences with other treatment. Between these two treatments, treatment 6 is
considered to have a better effect on the performance of okra in terms of the number of
fruits. With regard to the weight of'fiuit, treatment 6 gave the highest mean yield of 2092.5g
which was significantly better than the other treatments. The addition of legumbre solution as fertiliser to okra plant will increase the height, number and yield of fruits.
