Abstract
Sweet potato leaf meal and rice middling is a potential source of feed for broiler as feed extender. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with sweet potato leaf meal and rice middling (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%) as feed extender and to determine the profitability of using sweet potato leaf meal and rice middling in broiler ration. It was conducted from November 26, 2015 to December 31, 2015 at the old Executive House of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University North La Union Campus, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union. A total of ninety 14 days old broiler chicks were distributed randomly into six treatments in three blocks following the RCBD. Results of the study revealed that the birds fed with different ratio of sweet potato leaf meal and rice middling, (5% to 20%) performed comparably with the birds fed with pure broiler starter crumble in terms of final weight, gain in weight fed consumption, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine, and stock cost.
