Abstract
Groundwater samples were taken from seven (7) deep wells in DMMMSU, Agoo Campus, La Union during the dry and wet seasons in 2013. Bacteriological and physico-chemical parameters were measured using the standard laboratory procedures. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, DMRT, T-test, and Pearson Product Moment of Correlation. Results were compared with the numerical values set by national and global standards. Groundwater samples contain significantly higher numbers of total and fecal coliform bacteria but negative for E. coli in both seasons. All water samples did not pass the national and global standards for bacteriological tests. The physico-chemical characteristics of the groundwater samples are within the normal ranges although minerals and suspended solids are present. This research provides information regarding the present quality of groundwater supply which can be disseminated in the form of brochure to the entire population of the campus. Furthermore, this could serve as a reforencefor future research and relocation of the deep wells with periodic monitoring.
