Rivers are important freshwater resources for domestic and industrial activities. This study assessed the water quality of Baroro River, Bacnotan, La Union looking into the type of industries nearby, nutrient concentration, and physicochemical properties of the river. Field method was used in study, establishing three (3) sampling stations. Water samples, obtained through grab method, were analyzed for nutrient concentration. Physicochemical properties were measured on-site. The types of industries were identified within 500m proximity from the banks. Descriptive statistics such as means was used. Results revealed the presence of various industries along Baroro River. Exceedances in the nutrient concentration (ammonia, total N as NO3, and phosphate) were noted. Further, the dissolved oxygen did not meet the standard limit for Class A waters in 2 stations (3.8 and 3.3 mg/L). Total dissolved solids have exceeded the standard limit in all three stations.
