dc.description.abstractGibberellic acid (GA3) is a plant growth regulator known for its significant role in promoting seed germination and early seedling growth. Most squash seeds production in the Philippines faces several challenges, ranging from the circulation of expired seeds to broader issues impacting crop quality and yield. Long stored seeds present a significant effect that lead to reduced germination rates and compromised crop performance. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the effects of different GA3 concentrations on seed emergence and seedling growth performance of squash. The study was conducted from April 02 to 16, 2024 at Barangay Lacong, San Gabriel La Union. This was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design with three replications. The treatments are; Water (control), 10ppm, 15ppm, 35ppm, 50ppm GA3. Based on the result of the study, squash seeds soaked in a 15ppm and 35ppm concentrations of Gibberellic acid produced high germination index (18.17±0.56), fastest speed germination (55.12±1.79, 52.97±2.75), highest germination rate (5.45±0.85, 5.37±0.32), 100% highest total emergence, tallest plant height (13.33±0.80, 12.13±1.45), highest leaf length (4.05±0.34), and widest leaf width (5.42±0.31, 5.24±0.44). Meanwhile, no significant difference were observe in 10ppm and 50ppm concentrations of Gibberellic acid in terms of mean emergence time, mean emergence rate, stem girth and root length.
