Abstract
Landslides pose significant threats due to their ability to occur suddenly which cause extensive damage. With this, disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) implementation addressing landslides in Bagulin, La Union was assessed focusing on the profile of the residents and the local DRRM management units; their level of adoption of DRRM strategies; and the problems encountered in implementing such. This study used a descriptive research design utilizing survey method. The use of questionnaires was the primary tool in data gathering from a total of 390 respondents substantiated with informal interviews and secondary data. The results showed that residents moderately adopted preparedness and response activities for landslides, while DRRM implementers had a high extent of implementation of DRRM activities. Problems encountered in the implementation of DRRM include limited budget for purchasing emergency supplies; weak implementation of zoning and land use plans and other institutional and technical limitations. As a result, an action plan was proposed to aid local decision-makers.
