Abstract
Proper cultural management like mulching is important in improving growth and yield in onion and for conservation moisture in the plant root zone. Hence, this study employing the RCBD with four blocks was conducted with five treatments ( no mulch, rice straw, rice hull, cogon, and polyethylene plastic). This was conducted at Demonstration Farm, Bacnotan, La Union from December 21, 2016 to February 25, 2017. Based on the findings of the study, multiplier onion mulched with rice straw, rice hull, cogon and polyethylene plastic significantly affects the survival rate, plant height, laminar length, number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of onion. No significant differences were observed on bulb diameter and number of bulblets.
