Abstract
Mushroom which is an excellent vegetable rich in nutrients and can be a viable income generating livelihood using waste materials hence, this study was conducted. This study was conducted at the Mushroom Project of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University - North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from September, 2015 to February, 2016 to determine the performance of oyster mushroom to proportions of sawdust-rice bran substrates,(T0 - 100% Sawdust (control) T1 - 10% Rice Bran + 90% Sawdust, T2 - 20% Rice Bran + 80% Sawdust,T3 - 30% Rice Bran + 70% Sawdust, T4 40% Rice Bran + 60% Sawdust ) employing RCBD) and to determine the profitability of producing oyster mushroom. Results of the study revealed that fruiting bags with 10% to 40% rice bran added to sawdust as substrates produced more number and heavier basidiocraps, higher percentage of small, medium and large basidiocarps, biological conversion efficiency, yield and net income than using sawdust alone.
