This descriptive research identified the profile of the respondents, assessed their awareness, preparedness and response to disaster, identified the problems encountered in the implementation of disaster risk reduction management and the coping mechanisms employed before, during and after disasters. Data was gathered using a questionnaire and was treated using percentages, means, and rank. A total of 200 residents of Barangay Sipulo, Bacnotan, La Union served as respondents of the study. Based on the results, the distribution of respondents by their demographic profile is ideal to represent the community since the respondents’ profile is represented by the entire community. The existing DRRM plan is well inculcated to the residents which can help the community to mitigate the risks when disasters come. Likewise, the community is prepared and ready to respond before, during, and after a disaster. Respondents want more improvement as to projects that are relevant to mitigate the risk of disasters in their community.
