Abstract
Bayanihan is a core essence of Filipino culture. The objective of the study is to find out
how the blue and white collar workers conceptualized bayanihan in different ways and what
motivates them to do so. Using convenient sampling method and a constructed questionnaire, the
researchers gathered the respondent's profile, their concept of bayanihan, motivations used and
its relationship and difference among the variables used in the study. Statistical tools used such
as percentages, average weighted mean, t-test, Pearson Product Correlation Coefficient and
Contingency Coefficient were used in the analysis of data. Generally, both blue and white collar
workers conceptualized bayanihan as”Bayanihan sa kalamidad o sakuna”. Moreover, these
workers are more intrinsically motivated as they help or perform bayanihan to the community.
However, age and civil status of the blue collar workers is significantly related to bayanihan
concepts as well as the bayanihan concepts to the types of motivation used.
