This research explores the Human Resource Management (HRM) practices of selected restaurants in San Juan, La Union―a well-known destination for both local and international tourists. Focusing on 31 registered establishments, the study examines how these businesses manage recruitment, job information and organization, acquisition, maintenance and development. Most of the restaurants are small, casual-dining micro enterprises that operate during limited hours and cater primarily to young, budget conscious customers. Using a descriptive cross-sectional design and structured questionnaires, the study found that while HRM practices are consistently applied across all establishments, variations exist depending on restaurant type, size, operating hours, customer behavior, and ownership structure. Despite the absence of formal HR departments, owners, and managers demonstrate a strong commitment of staff support and operational efficiency. The findings emphasize the importance of adapting HR strategies to match the restaurant’s business model and customer profile, contributing to both employee satisfaction and long-term growth within the food and tourism industry.
