Abstract
Native guava is one of the most commonly used medicinal plants against a wide range of diseases. The study was conducted at the Poultry Project of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from November 20 to December 24, 2009 to determine the performance of broilers fed with varying levels (3%, 6%, 9%) of guava leaf meal as feed substitute. Using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), 60 14-day old broilers (Cobb strain) were distributed at random into four different treatments replicated three times with 5 birds per replicate.
The result of the study revealed that there were no significant differences among the experimental birds subjected to varying levels of guava leaf meal as feed substitute in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost.
