Abstract
This study aimed to design, fabricate, and evaluate the performance of the chili grinding machine. The machine’s performance was evaluated with the following parameters: grinding capacity, grinding efficiency, and machine loss.
The research design is Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Factor A is the standard sieve number with three levels of sieve # 8, #16, and #30. Factor B is the speed of the grinding machine with three levels of speed 2540 to 2550 rpm, 2610 to 2620 rpm, and 2680 to 2690 rpm. The treatments are replicated 3 times having a total of 27 experimental units. The data gathered were analyzed using Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) and to test the significant difference among treatments.
Results showed that the grinding capacity of the machine is 13.22 kg/hr, the
grinding efficiency of the machine is 88.07%, and the machine losses are at 29.63%. The economic analysis revealed that the investment cost of the machine was ₱19,373.00 and can be recovered in 4.39 years with a break-even point of 380.78 kg/year.
