Abstract
The study was carried out to identify the status of political participation among women political leaders in the 1st District of La Union, which can contribute to attaining UN SDGNo.5, Gender Equality. The research focused on the profile of the respondents, their reasons for seeking political office, the challenges they faced, and their notable contributions. The study utilized frequency and percentages, as well as documentary analyses, to analyze the data. The findings revealed that the respondents were typically married, over 50. and had completed college. They had served in politics for at least two terms, were affiliated with the LAKAS party, and had held positions as Sangguniang Bayan Members. Their motivations included establishing relations and communications with the public while they encountered obstacles such as discrimination and gender bias. Their significant contributions primarily focused on health, education, economics, and public works.
