dc.description.abstractThe study aimed to determine the effects of different rates of animal manure on the growth and survival of outplanted one-year old coffee. It was conducted at the Agroforestry Research and Demonstration Farm (ARDF) of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Bacnotan, La Union from September 29, 2005 to February 28, 2006. There were five treatments with ten (10) seedlings per treatment. This study was laid out using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The different treatments used were as follows: A – control (no application), B – 5.33 kg goat manure + 221. 33 grams urea per tree, C – 5.33 kg cow manure + 222.23 grams urea per tree, D – 2.67 kg chicken manure + 103. 73 grams urea per tree, and E – 20 grams mycovam per tree. Results of the study revealed that organic fertilizers did not significantly affect the seedlings in terms of average monthly height and diameter increment, final height and diameter, percentage survival, soil pH and N, P, K content of the soil. However, significant result was observed on the average initial height and final number of leaves at180 days after planting.
