The study was conducted in the different municipalities of the two provinces, La Union and Benguet, to determine the role of women in beekeeping in terms of performing different beekeeping activities namely Integrated Pest Management; queen rearing; beekeeping supplies, tools and equipments; bee pasture development; harvesting and processing of bee products; packaging and labeling of products; and marketing of products. Women only moderately participate in the selected beekeeping activities like in bee pasture development; however women often participate in honey harvesting. Overall, women occasionally participated in all the different aspects of beekeeping.
