| dc.description.abstract | This study on native and introduced breeds of dogs determined the: (a) epididymal morphometry; (b) epididymal semen volume and concentration; (c) epididymal sperm quality; (d) epididymal sperm morphometry; and (e) epididymal sperm abnormalities. Five dogs were castrated and the testicles collected were stored in styro box with digital thermometer maintained at 5 to 10ÂșC. The epididymis were collected and processed in the laboratory. All the data gathered were computed considering means and percentages. Epididymis of introduced breeds were greater in all dimensions, greater volume and concentration of epididymal semen, higher viability, normality and motility than native dogs. Epididymal morphometry of native dogs is greater than introduced breeds. Proximal cytoplasmic droplets had the highest mean percent and no double/multiple tail sperm cells were observed in both breeds. | |
