| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed was conducted to (a) socio-economic and enterprise profile of goat raisers; (b) production, marketing, human resource and finance practices; (c) challenges and problems encountered by the goat raisers and; (d) information, education and communication (iec) materials. The study has 100 respondents; the data were analyzed using various statistical tools such as frequency counts, weighted mean, mode, percentage and descriptive rating. The data was gathered from the volunteer goat raisers of Candon City, Ilocos Sur. Descriptive-Quantitative methods were applied in this study. The findings reveal that smallholder farmers depend on goats for additional income. They face challenges like market access, while opportunities lie in the market expansion, better practices, and goat enterprise development. The major problem encountered by the goat raisers were maintaining a consistent water supply for goats, competition with other local markets, limited education and training, limited capital and difficulty in accessing to financing and investments. | |
