| dc.description.abstract | The coconut meat or "sapal meal" after extracting the milk from the coconut meat ordinarily goes to waste hence, this study was conducted to determine the best level of "sapal" meal (0, 20, 25, 30 and 35%) as feed extender for broilers. It was conducted at Teakwood Dormitory of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union from January 12 to February 17 2009. Seventy-five 14 day old chicks were distributed at random into five treatments replicated three times following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The findings of the study revealed comparable result in terms of final weight. Birds fed with higher levels of sapal meal as feed extender significantly decreased the gain in weight and feed conversion efficiency, but it had caused a positive increase in feed consumption and profit. | |
