dc.description.abstractPhonics is one of the instructions that aid pupils to fully understand the relationship of each sound of the letter in reading and spelling. The main purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of phonics in the reading performances on (N=6) first-grade pupils at Tanglag Elementary School. Through a one group pre-test - post-test design which was statistically analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test for dependent sample. The result of the study indicated that there was an improvement in the reading performance of the participants when exposed to phonics. Moreover, there was a significant difference in the reading performance of the participant in the pre-test - post test.
