Abstract
Varroa destructor A. is a dangerous pest directly for beekeeping and indirectly for crops that require insect pollination. Plant extracts usage is known for agriculture pest cntrol.
The investigation has been carried out to evaluate the acaricidal effects of some fresh botanical plant extracts for varroa mites of honeybees taking Amitraz as control. Three days interval of application was implemented from October 9 to November 6, 2015 at the research area of NARTDI located in Barangay Guin-guinabang, San Juan, La Union. Fifteen standard colonies were used and were randomly distributed into five treatments following RCBD in three blocks.
The application of four botanical extracts with (100f leaves; 300 ml distilled water) were statistically comparable in colonies treated with amitraz all throughout the seven times applkication of treatments in terms of final mite drop (Day 28), mite drop count (1-7x application), final mite infestation, day of low infestation occurence after first treatment, and colony temperament.
