Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the potential of hagonoy leaf extract as larvicide for the control of mosquitoes, determine the most effective concentration and exposure time. Rice paddies to be habitat of mosquito larvae were used. There were five treatments replicated thrice. These were: T0-; T0+; T1 - 10%; T2- 20%; and T3- 30% hagonoy leaf extract. Hagonoy leaf extract was prepared and applied to each rice paddy. Observation was done 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours post-application to determine larval mortality. Hagonoy leaf extract at 10, 20 and 30% had larvicidal efficacy against mosquitoes. 30% (T3) hagonoy leaf extract was the most effective concentration as larvicide. The most effective exposure time of hagonoy leaf extract against mosquitoes was 12 to 72 hours for T3 (30%) and 48 to 72 hours for T2 (20%).
