Abstract
The high cost of commercial feeds prompted poultry raisers to look for alternative sources of feed such as sweet potato, taro and cassava. Hence, this study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with root crops from November 25, 2014 to December 18, 2014 in Arosip, Bacnotan, La Union. A total of 60, fourteen day old broiler chicks were randomly distributed into four treatments with three blocks following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD).
The result of the study showed that the final weight, gain in weight, and profit above feed , medicine and stock cost of birds fed with 20% sweet potato meal and 20% cassava meal were comparable to birds fed with pure broiler starter crumble.
