Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the particular area/s in Chemist I
(Inorganic Chemistry) to the BSE II General Science Students of DMMMSU-SLUC.
College of Education find difficulties during the school year 2003-2004.
The major findings of the study were the following:
1. Most of the subjects are 18 years of :lg(.~and only few belong to the age bracket of

high school. The family monthly income of the subjects ranges from below C,OOOI
1600.
2. The study revealed that the students perform best in the four areas wherein
their level of knowledge is described as high namely Introduction to
Inorganic Chemistry (I). Matter and Changes (area 11), Periodic Table (area
IV) and Chemical Formulas and Equations (area VI) while moderate in the
areas like area III which is Atomic Constitution of Matter, area V Chemical
Bonding and area VII which is Stoichiometry. Finally, the students seem to
find difficulty ill the two last areas which are area VIII Solutions and area IX
