Abstract
While the corporate management is known for its effectiveness, its adoption in farming however highly depends on the attitudes of farmers. This study was therefore conducted specifically t: 1) determine the level of awareness and acceptability of corporate management; 2) assess the level of understanding about the effect of corporate management on income; 3) determine the effect of social system in the attitudes of farmers towards corporate strategy; 4) determine the problems in the adoption of corporate management in farming.
The data were drawn from 40 respondents who were selected using purposive random sampling and gathered through personal interview using a questionnaire schedule. The data collected were analysed using descriptive tools such as, frequency counts, percentages, mean and weighted average.
Results revealed that majority of the farmers were not so familiar about corporate farming. However, after the explanation about it features, most of them were in favour to adopt it. While they believed that access to market, financial, technical and management support system were considered important, the adoption of corporate management however was claimed to be moderately advantageous in marketing , financial, technical and managerial aspects of farm management. In the adoption of corporate management in farming, there are potential problems that will be encountered and these are believed to happen likely. Foremost problem is the prevalence of behaviours such as “individualism and maňa habit”.
Majority of the respondents were married, male, high school graduate, had
average 52.94 years in age and 4.5 number of children.
