This project was conducted to: (1) document the investment costs in starting a backyard broiler raising; (2) determine the net income and the return on investment (ROI); (3) determine the extent of influence of the project on the community folks to go into backyard broiler raising; and (4) determine problems encountered in the production, marketing, and financing of backyard broiler raising. Results of the study revealed that the construction of broiler housing/cages accounts for the bulk of initial investment costs in starting a backyard broiler project, while feeds and broiler day-old chicks accounts about three-fourths of production costs of broiler chickens. The average net income was PhP 4,972.50 that correspond to an average ROI of 30.51%. The project was welcome and appreciated in the community and that most of them expressed interest in going into backyard broiler raising as soon as they acquire enough capital. Identified problems in starting backyard broiler raising projects included lack of capital, farm distance to commercial market, limited supply of broiler day-old chicks, high investment costs, and unavailability of technical support services.
