dc.description.abstractMost poultry raisers nowadays look for different kinds of feed substitutes which are indigenous or are found in the locality to help lessen the cost of commercial feeds in poultry ration. Thus, this research aims primarily to determine the effects of different levels (3%, 6%, 9%) of Caballero leaf meal as feed substitute on the performance of broilers. Sixty 14 days old broiler chicks distributed in four treatments in 3 blocks following the Randomized Complete Block Design and was conducted at Sta. Cruz, Bacnotan, La Union from November 28, 2013 to January 2, 2014. Result of the study showed that broilers fed with pure commercial starter mash and 3% Caballero leaf meal significantly performed better in terms of gain in weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and profit above feed, medicine and stock cost. Feeding broilers with higher levels of caballero leaf meal adversely affected the performance of broilers.
