dc.description.abstractThe study was conducted at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, DMMMSU-NLUC from November 2013 to February 2014 for the design and construction of a calamansi fruit slicing machine. The design was constructed for continuous process operation. Four treatments were used to evaluate the machine. The performance evaluation of the machine was carried out on calamansi fruit slicer. Sorted calamansi samples were evaluated, the time used for slicing, and the weight of the fruit sliced were considered in order to determine the slicing rate, input capacity, slicing efficiency and slicing quality of the machine. The slicing efficiency of this machine in terms of the number of fruit sliced is 100% because the machine can slice all the fruits that were fed into the slicer. The total expense in fabricating the machine was Fifteen Thousand, One Hundred Thirty-three Pesos (P15,133.00). Operating cost per year with one person operating the machine is P25,460.00. The annual net income is P55,532.00 and a payback period of 3 months.
