E, REY VINCENT S. (2022). Botanical Insecticides on the Management of Cowpea Stinkbugs (Leptocorisa spp. L.). Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Crop Protection. Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, College of Agriculture, Department of Crop Protection, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union. Adviser: Simon, Jeramil C. Chemical insecticides are very costly and harmful to the environment; hence botanical insecticides could be a source of more environmental-friendly insecticides. The effectiveness of botanical insecticides as alternative to chemical insecticides was tested against Leptocorisa spp. on cowpea. The study area was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design having 7 treatments with 3 blocks. The different treatments were: Untreated, Chemical insecticide, Kakawate Leaf extract, Neem leaf extract, Citronella leaf extract, Lantana leaf extract, Hot chili fruit extract. The significant result of study revealed that at fruiting stage 53 DAP and 60 DAP neem, kakawate, lantana, and hot chili with the mean of 1.46 were comparably effective to chemical insecticide in reducing stinkbug population count at fruiting stage. In terms of the degree of damage, neem with the mean of 44.45, lantana with the mean of 40.00, and hot chili with the mean of 46.46 resulted to comparable pod infestation. Citronella spray got the highest weight of marketable pods with 0.51 kg/plot while chemical insecticide spray obtained the highest total cost of production with Ᵽ 257.01/plot.
