| dc.description.abstract | In broiler production, like any other animal production enterprise, marketing is the finish line that determines profit or loss. This study was conducted to determine the most profitable age of selling broilers. Two hundred head of broiler chicks were subjected to different marketing ages (25, 30, 35, 40, 45 days) following the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications. The study was conducted at Brgy. Sidaoen, Sta Cruz, Ilocos Sur from December 10, 2005 to January 24, 2006. Results of the study revealed that marketing broilers at 40-45 days resulted to higher dressing percentage and lower percentage of blood, feather and entrails. Marketing broilers at 25 days are more efficient and requires the least feed cost to produce a kilogram gain. The profit above feed, medicine and stock cost, both on live and dress basis, are highest when marketed at 30, 35 and 40 days old. | |
