Improved postharvest practices result in reduction in losses, improve overall quality, extend shelf life and higher profits for growers and marketers. This study was conducted at Nangalisan, Bacnotan, La Union from March 9 to April 6, 2016 to determine the effects of different delaying agents in the ripening of ‘Carabao’ mango under ambient condition. The treatments were, T0-control, T1- poly wrap, T2- calcium chloride, CaCl2, T3- moist carbonized rice hull, T4- beeswax, T5- epsom salt employing Completely Randomized Design. Results revealed that poly wrap and beeswax delayed ripening in ‘Carabao’ mango for 7.37 days and 7.63 days respectively and had the longest shelf life or total limit of marketability for 5.4 days and 5.97 days over control under ambient condition. However, moist CRH outstand in terms of visual quality and more uniform ripeness among fruits. Further, poly wrap delayed onset of anthracnose for about 6.31 days over control. Stem-end rot was also delayed for 3.94 days using moist carbonized rice hull.
