This study was conducted to determine the effects of compost inoculated with formulated effective microorganisms (EM) from different substrates on the growth and yield of pechay. The experiment was laid out following the Complete Randomized Design (CRD). Five treatments were used which correspond to the different formulated effective microorganisms. Pots were arranged in three blocks and each treatment was replicated three times. One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to determine the differences among treatments. Results revealed that highest mean number of leaves was noted from that of compost inoculated with EM from rice straw. The least number of leaves was obtained by the garden soil (control), and that inoculated with lactic acid bacterial serum. As to the weight, same compost inoculated with EM from rice straw obtained the highest and is significantly higher than the control and those inoculated with lactic acid bacterial serum. The weight and height of leaves were not significantly different among treatments. Soil chemical analysis showed significant effects of compost inoculated with EM on organic matter, and nitrogen contents of the soil. The result of the study showed that compost inoculated with effective microorganisms (EM) could be used as organic fertilizer for pechay.
