| dc.description.abstract | Sweet potato is cultivated primarily for edible storage roots; vines are used as vegetables in some parts of the world. Both starchy roots and vines can be used as animal feed or feed supplement. The study aimed to determine the response of sweet potato using organic fertilizer, to determine the effects of organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of sweet potato and to determine the best organic fertilizer for optimum growth and yield of sweet potato. It was conducted at Agritech Demonstration Farm, DMMMSUNLUC, Bacnotan, La Union from January 12, 2017 to April 17, 2017. This study was laid out following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). In the preparation and application of manure tea the dried manure teas gathered 1.0 kg/14 L water or at 14kg/ 200 L were soaked inside the (200 L capacity) plastic drums then fermentation duration was 16 days from soaking. Application of teas was done through drench method at the rate of 500 ml/plant start one week after planting at weekly interval with the total of eight times application. Findings of the study revealed that sweet potato applied with all organic manure teas and chemical fertilizer produced comparable growth and yield performance of crop in terms on the length of main vines in 30 DAP and fresh weight of biomass, weight of storage roots per plot and total root yield per hectare basis. | |
