Abstract
This study aimed to determine the growth and survival of outplanted red lauan seedlings as affected by different radius of weeding. It was conducted from July 26, 2015 to January 26, 2016 under mixed stand located at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, LaUnion.
The study was laid out using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD)
with three replicates. The treatments were as follows: T₀ - control (without brushing) T₁(0.25 m radius of brushing) T₂ - (0.5 m radius of brushing) T₃ -(0.75 m radius of brushing).
The results of the study showed that seedlings brushed at 0.75 m radius from the seedling (T₃) were the tallest, and the shortest were the seedlings brushed at 0.25 m radius from the seedlings. On the diameter, seedlings with no brushing (control) were the widest and the smallest diameters were the seedlings brushed at 0.25 m radius from the seedlings. The highest numbers of leaves were the seedlings brushed at 0.50 m radius from the seedlings and lowest numbers of leaves were the seedlings brushed at 0.25 m radius from the seedlings. Furthermore, the result shows that red lauan seedlings
registered 100% survival.
