The need to reduce cost of producing broiler through the use of available resource as component of feeds is of utmost importance due to ever increasing prices of feedstuff. One of the potential feedstuff is dried silkworm waste due to its high nutrient content. Hence, this study was conducted to find out the effects of varying levels of dried silkworm waste (0%, 5%, 10% and 15% dried silkworm waste) on the performance of broilers. It was conducted at Sevilla Sur, San Fernando City, La Union from April 28 to June 06, 2007. Seventy five heads of broilers at two weeks of age were distributed into five treatments. Each treatment was replicated three times following the Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Results revealed that birds fed with formulated ration without dried silkworm waste significantly recorded the highest profit and the heaviest final and gain in weight of birds. However, addition of silkworm waste up to 10% of the ration had comparable results with birds fed with commercially prepared broiler starter mash.
