dc.description.abstractPublic markets play a vital role in the local economy as centers of trade, livelihood, and social interaction. This study assessed the level of efficiency of operations management in the Bauang Public Market and identified the challenges encountered by market vendors in its operations along facility layout planning, workforce planning and management, inventory management, scheduling, quality control, maintenance, and transportation and logistics. Using a quantitative descriptive research design, data were gathered through a researcher-made questionnaire based on Municipal Ordinance No. 8, Series of 2026 (Market Code of Bauang, La Union) and administered to 186 public market vendors. Results revealed that the Bauang Public Market operates at a moderate level of efficiency, indicating that operations management is not fully optimized in certain areas. Key challenges include congested walkways and poor ventilation which were the bases in the formulation of strategies to improve LEE operations. Indeed, the Bauang Public Market contributes to economic growth however, recommended strategies can provide inputs for policy actors to curb inefficiencies.
