Abstract
The high cost of commercial feeds prompted poultry raisers to look for the alternative source of feed ingredients such as ipil-ipil leaf meal. The study was conducted to determine the performance of broilers fed with varying levels of ipil-ipil leaf meal (10%, 20% and 30%) from November 12, 2015 to December 17, 2015 at Barangay Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union. A total of 60 14-day old broiler chicks were randomly distributed into four treatments, following the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in three blocks. The result of the study showed that the performance of birds fed with 10% ipil-ipil leaf meal were comparable to those birds fed with pure broiler starter crumble in terms of final weight, gain in weight, feed consumption, and feed conversion ratio. However, the profit above feed, medicine and stock cost and cost of feed to produce a kilogram gain of birds fed with pure broiler starter crumble were comparable to those birds fed with 20% and 30% ipil-ipil leaf meal.
