dc.description.abstractThe study aimed to determine (1) the profile of franchisee respondents; (2) the franchise enterprise; (3) Identify the benefits of franchising; and (4) to determine the problems encountered by the franchisee-respondents. The data and information used in the study were generated through the use of interview schedule questionnaires from franchisees selected from the Municipalities of La Union. The interview was conducted from November to December 2011. Findings of the study revealed that the franchisee respondents were on their middle ages, about equal number of males and females, with relatively high educational attainment, and were members to franchise business organizations. Franchising is relatively new in the area covered by the study, mainly financed through loans, single proprietorship, managed by hired managers, hired about five workers, operated on rented building spaces, franchise fee ranged from P 100,000.00 to P 700,000.00, franchiser paid P 66,600.00 initial franchise in the average , generates monthly sales of P 108,600.00 ,operational expenses of P 95,640.00. The benefits derived from the franchising are brand name, market assurance, business set up assistance, training, product standardization, advertising system, procurement assistance, financial assistance ,enterprise analysis , and the use of business model. Limited product lines, presence of competitors and market saturation are the common problems of franchised enterprises
