A study on the “DIFFICULTIES OF BSE YEAR STUDENTS, MAJOR IN GENERAL SCIENCE IN THE SUBJECT ZOOLOGY IN DMMMSU-SLUC, AGOO LA UNION,” was conducted from October to February 2004. This study made use of the descriptive-correlation method of research. Data were gathered by using a set of tests in Zoology which us supported by a set of questionnaires. The responses gathered were tallied, tabulated, and analyzed in terms of frequency counts and percentage. The subject of the study involved the 4th year BSE students major in general Science. This study intended to find out the difficulties of the General Science. Major students of the College of Education of DMMMSU-SLUC, Agoo La Union in Zoology. It answered the following questions: (1) What is the profile of the respondents in terms of the following variables ( age, sex, monthly family income and grades in zoology )?; (2) What is the respondents’ level of knowledge in Zoology in terms of the following areas:( Introduction to Zoology, Attributes to Living Things, The Chemical Basis of Life, The Cellular Basis of Life, Functioning of the Animal Body, and Population Education ); and (3) Is there a significant relationship between the students aptitude level in Zoology and their profile as to: Age, Sex, Monthly Family Income, and Grades in Zoology. The study made use of the Pearson- Product Moment Correlation to test the hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between the respondents’ profile and their performance level in Zoology. The study came out with the following salient findings: (1) As to respondent’s profile, fifty percent of the respondents* age are appropriate to their curriculum level. Majority are females and one-half of them have low family income; (2) The academic performance of the respondents in Zoology was rated very satisfactory; (3) The respondents have high level of knowledge in the different areas of Zoology; (4) Chemical basis of life and functioning of the Animal Body turned out to be the most difficult; and (5) The correlation between all the respondents profile and their scores in the diagnostic test is lesser than the critical value of.459 at 0.05 level of significance.
