Abstract
Organic vegetable production is now the trend of good agricultural practice in farming to produce chemical-free food vegetables. Thus, this study was conducted to compare the growth and yield of cabbage (Var. Apo Verde) grown on organic and inorganic crop culture under DMMMSU condition. The treatments were as follows; (T1pure organic culture, T2-pure inorganic culture, and T3- ½ organic + ½ inorganic culture). The study was conducted at the Horticulture Project of the Agriculture Department of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Bacnotan La Union from December 26, 2009-March 8, 2010. Results revealed that organically-produced cabbage produced the most number of leaves at head formation which is significantly higher than those grown under the inorganic culture. Mean diameter, weight and yield per plot of harvested cabbage head were found comparable when plants are grown under organic and inorganic crop culture.
